The American Robin

March is almost over but I have to share ... I love the birds around our house!
For months now we've been enjoying Cardinals, Bluejays, the Tufted Titmouse, Bluebirds, Carolina Juncos and probably more - I'm not a 'real' bird watcher ;) . Early last week I walked outside to see our first Robins of the season! I'd say we have about 3-4 couples hanging around and my oh my! they are having some springtime fun!
The bird of the month just happens to be the American Robin!
What an honor to share my name with this pretty little creature.
What Robin Told
How do robins build their nests?
Robin Redbreast told me
First a wisp of yellow hay
In a pretty round they lay;
Then some shreds of downy floss,
Feather, too, and bits of moss,
Woven with a sweet, sweet song,
This way, that way, and across;
That's what Robin told me.

Where do robins hide their nests?
Robin Redbreast told me
Up among the leaves so deep,
Where the sunbeams rarely creep,
Long before the winds are cold,
Long before the leaves are gold,
Bright-eyed stars will peep and see
Baby robins--one, two, three;
That's what Robin told me!

Happy Springtime!!!

  1. We've had robins here all winter long, but they're particularly busy right now. I love to go outside early in the morning to hear the birdsong - a great way to start the day!

    1. Thanks for stopping by! Just this morning we opened the window (still a little chilly) to listen to the birds - and I agree - a great beginning to the day!
