You Are the Author of Your Life

Are you stuck? Okay, this is an analogy here and maybe it'll make more sense to those out there who actually love to read a book ... but for everyone, I think it should resonate with a little truth.
When I'm reading a book .... sometimes I can get a little upset with the story! I hate when someone does another person wrong, or I'm like, No! that isn't how it should be! or, maybe story drags out, gets a little boring and I'm like - get it over with already!!
Well, guess what? We are writing our own story every single day. We are our own main character - in all of our amazing roles! If we don't like where we've been, or where we're headed, we can change course. We can write a most amazing plot twist and totally re-direct the outcome! We select the characters - their role and our response to them; we choose the scenery; the mood - how dramatic or peaceful it will be; we choose the colorful adjectives that describe the unfolding of it ... in fact, we can dictate the progress and outcome of every chapter! That's not to say we can control life and all it's ups and downs, but we can control our reactions and dialog. We bring brilliance to the drab. We discover solutions to trying problems. Choose exciting over boring. Or peace instead of conflict. It's not easy to create a masterpiece - it can be draining even. But, with hard work, ethical practices, a support system of quality characters, a dynamic story is in the making ... and wow! watch out ... it can truly be magnificent!
Probably the best advice I have to give anyone who desires to create a masterpiece with their own life is to seek out the source of all Wisdom - God the Father - who is truly the Author and Finisher of our best selves. His Word = the greatest Love Story ever told.

The first step is to stop re-reading the last chapter - move forward with exuberance and trust that the best is yet to come.
Your story, one of a kind, unique, and valuable.

Goodness - the business kind

I actually love doing business with my business - catching up with customers, gaining new ones, searching for and adding teammates ... and, joy of joys, I love our products and find it just wonderful to use them with confidence and feel healthier.
It Works has dedicated itself to producing life-changing products that work so well you can truly be amazed at the results! The It Works Way of formulation is actually based on a philosophy of integrity ... THREE-POINT FORMULATION:
  1. Cutting-Edge Research - It all starts with innovative research and product development. We work with industry experts.
  2.  Natural Ingredients - We are dedicated to using naturally occurring ingredients and botanicals in our product formulations - it starts with the source and goes through the production process.
  3. Product Synergy - The products are designed to work together!!
I love this about our company too - that although we offer a good number of cosmetic products that help a person look and feel their best on the outside - like tightening, toning and firming with our Crazy Wrap, or helping one look and feel younger with our amazing skin care line ... well, we are all about taking care of the whole person. A healthy lifestyle is what we encourage - drinking plenty of water, eating right and exercise.
So, for me this is great news! At my age, I really appreciate all the natural help I can get. I use so many of these plant based supplements and the wonderful skin-care line myself. Let me tell you about a couple of my favorites! Their nickname (not official) is the .... Dynamic Duo ... well, because for me and many others, they have dynamic results!!

I use FatFighters as needed - you see they actually block some of the fats and carbs when I eat an occasional cheat meal ... or biggie cheat snack! Like in these days of holidays when there's an abundance of desserts! or, for me more likely, that extra helping of mashed potatoes and gravy or dressing with and cranberries - yes, I ate more than my fill!!
ThermoFit is one of the best for me and where I am in life right now - you see, I need help with my metabolism. It used to be that I couldn't keep pounds on ... I'd get busy, forget to eat, and just lose weight! That's not me anymore. I don't burn calories like I used to - so, this 'fires up' my metabolism. Seriously! And for those exercise moments, like a brisk walk or a busy time of blessing my house - yes, I utilize taking two ThermoFit about 30 minutes before exercising!
And there you have it! Just a little of the Goodness that I get to be in the middle of on a daily basis!!
Yep, I love what I do!
You can find out more specific information on my website at Robin Lynn Wraps ...

Goodness - the family kind

Sometimes I look at where I am in life and just pause to wonder ...
  • how did I get here
  • where did the time go
  • what do I still want/need to do
  • who really matters
  • when am I going to get 'it' all done
  • why am I here ... on this earth, in this family, on this blog
I'm pretty happy about the answers to all those questions - I basically have lived a full life with insane and glorious adventures and I am so happily, and peacefully married. Our four adult children and their loved ones are so wonderful. Our three grandbabygirls are the most amazing alive!!  I truly count myself as blessed and highly favored.
All is not perfect in my world though and I have challenged myself to read and practice being more like the woman of Proverbs 31 this month of December. My goals are to really apply myself to my business in ways that I've not done before. Also, I ache to be artistic again so, am going to utilize my upstairs studio for gifts. And, I am determined to lose, not gain weight over these next few weeks of divine food!! At my age, putting on the pounds is pretty easy! I am after all, 60 years young now. ;) ... I still find that amusing. Where did all those years go? When folks say they still feel young at heart, I really truly get it! I feel like a kid most of the time.
So, I am still working on answering those questions, but all in all - I'll just keep putting one foot in front of the other and carry on. Well, let's amend that - how about a one-step, two-step and dance a little jig?!?!

Think about progress in any aspect of your life. Friendships, marriage, schooling, your career ... even something like planning a party for your family. You get out of it what you put into it. You prepare, dedicate time and effort and it pays off - quality time with friends, a marriage you can count on, excellent grades on your exams, promotions and/or joy from your work - even a super party enjoyed by all.
But if you're not consistent, don't apply yourself, your results won't be consistent or even there at all.
When you decide you need a life change and invest money and time into something, why do you not commit?
  • Did it not go EXACTLY as you planned?
  • Were you not rich overnight?
  • Over a month?
  • Over 6 months?
  • Did you really think that slow progress meant failure?
  • Did you really put in the effort needed to actually change your life?
If you're not growing yourself as an individual, a leader, a friend, then how do you expect any changes? Maybe taking a step back and reevaluating your "why" is something you should do .... look at why you initially invested in something to change your life - it could change your perspective.
It's never too late to move forward.
It's never too late to start over again.

These Days of November

I love the month of November!!
Our company (It Works) is pushing an adventure - which is the normal for us! We truly are always participating in new life adventures and it keeps us FUN for sure!! #GratitudeAdventure has been humbling, exciting, and rich. For me these days of November always put me in a state of gratitude ... however, that is a place I am comfortable with. Having lived in countries and loving folks that have so much less than I has caused me to live in a state of not taking life for granted. An attitude of gratitude leads to a joyful frame of mind. BTW, we're on day #16!!

I am a grateful person ... for some things that most here in the good ol' USA just take for granted. Let's take water for example. I am so thankful for hot water that comes to me in the shower, at the sink in my kitchen and I consider them real every day specific material/physical blessings. I'm pretty careful about water. For example, it's not uncommon that I re-use my rinse water from washing dishes - for the next batch of washing water. That's just a hold-over from those years.
So. that brings me to our dream board and one of our many goals - that is to totally fund  drilling a well in village that needs it.
I love that I still have dreams I get to work towards!!
When we fund this future well, we also hope to go and visit the village ... makes me smile to even think about it!! Our goal is to do this anonymously ... just be 'on hand' when it happens!!
I love having dreams to aspire to. I am so thankful that I have a husband that includes this goal in our daily prayers. We know that all things are possible when we seek his guidance and are filled with his strength.

Let the loveliness of my Lord, my God rest on me, confirming the work that I do. Oh, yes. Affirming the work that I do!
Ecclesiastes 3:13

Choose Daily

Some folks complain that all they see on the Facebook feed is negativity ... people griping, drama everywhere and some even add to it or at times, delete their accounts!

For me, it's very different - I deal with people who choose a better way. I interact daily with friends who decide to have a positive attitude even in the face of tragedy. I support healthy marriages and communicate with those who choose the same. There is no guarantee or promise that life will always be hunky-dory however, there is assurance that good will outweigh the bad; that light will come; that when we release our will to the Father and trust in him ... we will see joy in the morning.
The below is an example of what was shared this morning ... I do not know this dear lady but her attitude is lovely and I pray mine will be similar if I face these circumstances one day. But, rest assured ... the peace she has didn't happen overnight - I believe it is the result of a purposed life.
The 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud lady, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o’clock, with her hair fashionably coifed and makeup perfectly applied, even though she is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today. Her husband of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, she smiled sweetly when told her room was ready. As she maneuvered her walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of her tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on her window. “I love it,” she stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy. “Mrs. Jones, you haven’t seen the room …. just wait.” “That doesn’t have anything to do with it,” she replied. “Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn’t depend on how the furniture is arranged, it’s how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it. It’s a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do. Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open I’ll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I’ve stored away, just for this time in my life.” She went on to explain, “Old age is like a bank account, you withdraw from what you’ve put in. So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories Thank you for your part in filling my Memory bank. I am still depositing.” And with a smile, she said: “Remember the five simple rules to be happy: 1. Free your heart from hatred. 2. Free your mind from worries. 3. Live simply. 4. Give more. 5. Expect less.
(Disclaimer I did not personally write this beautiful story. I was moved by it and wanted to share.)

This Magical Time of Year

I don't know about you but I am pretty much in love with this magical time of year. I love celebrating special occasions and believe life is so rich when we have fun with family and friends.
BOOM - Halloween - Thanksgiving - Christmas - New Year's Day - Valentine's Day
So, we just finished up those weeks of anticipation and then the fulfillment of the crazy day of Halloween ... and then next up is my very, very favorite - Thanksgiving!!
But, here I go again sharing something in hindsight ... you know, I just didn't make time before but want you to know I had fun the month of October. I may not have my own little ones any longer but I sure do enjoy my grands!! And pumpkins and autumn crafts!!

Some good Christian folks are anti-Halloween - I get it, but in a minute I will share a good perspective on this haunted holiday. We're rarely home that evening and live in the country so, not much participation from our doorstep.
However, traditionally, our little home congregation will 'put on' a Halloween event. This year we had over 200 kids come through the fellowship hall seeing 12 stories (manned stations with candy) from the Bible come to life and also, received their treats with smiles!!  And we have friends who live up on a hill in town and they get over 300 kids who come to their door - the couple stands on their porch at a table and hand out candy, Bible coloring sheets, studies and invitations to church activities.
So, here it is - God, Frankensteins and More  - it's rather lovely if I do say so myself - and truly Christ-like generosity is never out of place in this dark world!!

Have a Little Confidence in Yourself!

So, I guess you see I have a section titled Robin Wraps ... because this is what I do ... I am a Distributor for It Works and really do love and use the products. I'd be happy to share them with you. There's truly so many that I use and I am enamored by the fact that they coincide with my own philosophy on life ... plant based goodness that complements how you take care of yourself when adopting a healthy lifestyle.
For example, this Confianza (which is confidence in Spanish)  - well, I take it daily - it helps me stay focused and on task. I know at my age I shouldn't have difficulty with that but I think it's because the more years you have on you, the more stuff there is to be distracted by!!

And then there's this - when you become a part of It Works you are invited to participate in a life that incorporates Dreams. These are the stuff life is made of ... if a person has no dreams then they may as well resign themselves to a life of just getting by and I want more than that.
I don't know about you but I love team-work. There's magic when a group pulls together to get a job done, or win a game in sports, or some kind of scholastic endeavor ... it's just the coolest thing when every one does there part and it all unfolds to victory!!
How about you? Do still have some dreams to see come true? Have you ever dreamed of being on a winning team?
I'll share a little about that the next time around.

Days of a Gratitude Adventure

Yesterday, November 1st, was so busy ... and actually, every Sunday is rather busy at our house but, I truly had no time for Social Media ... aside from two very early posts.
So anyway, let it be noted that I am joining in this adventure ...
feeling grateful everyday this month ... in a purposeful, designed way. And everyone that knows me at all knows that I love to celebrate.
So, I posted yesterday that I am SO thankful for God's Word ...
I am!! Every single day I strive to spend time in the Bible and gain something in order to live my life in a more giving way and of course, just to have strength in the journey.
Good morning...
another day and am truly and sincerely,
Thankful for "the two of us"
.... my marriage to Lowell makes every day a day full of promise, hope, love, adventure, joy and the best companionship
‪#‎gratitudeadventure‬ ‪#‎30daysofthankfulness‬ ‪#‎iamblessed‬ ‪#‎blessedandhighlyfavored‬
And ... I get to share in the yumminess of good eats.

All this month will be filled with gratitude ... and honestly, whether it's November or another month of the year, I count myself as a pretty grateful person - how about you?

A Milestone August

I hit a milestone this August - I entered my sixth decade. Whew!! I feel like I am still a young spring chicken and don't really know if I'll e.v.e.r. feel "old". I love my life ... it's truly been one adventure after another alongside my husband of over thirty-six years. Being married is a very good thing. So, I love my age too.... gulp, it's a little difficult shouting from the highest mountain than I'm 60 years old  young, but seriously, which year or years would I eliminate in order to be younger?? no!! I'll take this 60 years with all the love, joy, romance, heartache, thrills, pain, excitement and pure wonderfulness that has filled them up! They're mine and I claim ownership.
One of the other delights of the summer was some hikes we did with the kids - now, rest assured, we don't do HARD hikes .... but they do show that we have a little stamina and endurance left in us. ;)  Elk Knob State Park, NC; Stone Mountain, NC and Grayson Highlands VA ... we love each of these places. Actually, our whole family is just State Park enthusiasts. God's magnificent creation is a part of what refreshes our souls.
Truly, life is good, and God is great. And he is awesome. And merciful.
and I am Woman ... truly blessed and highly favored.

If I Do or Not, It Will Speak for Itself

So, as every year, it was a summer worth remembering - the grands are all big enough to spend the night and that happened multiple times ... joyful heart here. I love playing with those little ones - praying with them, cooking for them, adventuring with them.
Here are some random photos of summer-time ...

The Book vs Facebook

A little while ago I saw a post on someone's page that said to spend more time in God's book than Facebook. Good thought. I start my day in the Word but many don't I'm sure, in fact, I bet loads of folks check FB before anything else in the mornings; hmmm ....
Well, I love Facebook but too, I have such a positive upbeat page and newsfeed - it's a joy to hang out there! and my Facebook friends are from all walks of life and all over the world. I have had remarks from others about how they look forward to my postings, how I have encouraged them, how they have followed our marriage ... and when I am missing a couple of days I get notices, and you know what, I am encouraged and inspired by my FB family... in fact, one young man stands out - he posts scripture and they are always 'on spot' - if he's not around for awhile, I check on him ... all this to say - sure,
  • Be careful on FB - don't let it become your idol - we can let so many things get in the way of us and a closer walk with the Lord. For some it is sports, for others it is their jobs, still others it is shopping ... we can let anything take precedence or priority in wrong ways.
  • Be careful on FB - don't let it become your venting of negativity and thus harm your marriage or your family or friends. Facebook can poison lives sure as shooting an arrow through someone's heart.
  • Be careful on FB for your marriage sake - your spouse should have easy access to your passwords and be able to come and go freely in your messages. Never use FB to get in touch with ANYONE from your past that you wouldn't have sitting at your table in a family meal ... or who your spouse is uncomfortable about. Your spouse is ALWAYS #1.
I love FB and for me and my work from home business it is a means of networking for myself - for teamwork and marketing. I am swamped with positivity and goodness. I seek those out of like-minded faith. I pray over so many of my FB friends and I know they are praying for me. Some people I know use FB as sort of a ministry - of inspiration, of education, of light!
Use wisdom, balance, and integrity in all your posting and in what you read and share. Be aware of the source before you share something.
Live on FB as if Jesus himself was in the middle of mix.
  • Be responsible
  • Let your light shine
  • Be salt
  • Celebrate Jesus

Challenges out of the Comfort Zones

Hope your Tuesday is terrific for you. Mine?… Well, I have ventured into the land away from the comfort zone and as always, found it wasn't so bad after. You see, making videos is not my thing but I am determined to have fun with the next 19 - eeeeekkkk!!!!! Seriously, I really, really appreciate where I am headed in life right now and the people I get to work closely with are pretty doggone fabulous. I don't believe I have ever had a dull moment and with the encouragement of my hubby and kids, well,  life is just going to keep getting better. This is the first of the 20 day video challenge given to our team by our lovely and fearless leader, Brittany. Now this girl, she's got this down and she expects the rest of us to follow suit. Yeah, right, she's a stunning one. At my daughter Janna's prompting I took on the challenge – she has fun with this kind of stuff, too.

That's Britt out in front and some of us who to whom she has issued this challenge.

Precious Friend

I have a good friend, her name is Ann. We do fun things together like pick strawberries, or cut bamboo for my garden in the spring time – pure joy. She likes to give me things, in fact, if I go to her house I can hardly ever leave without something in my hand - maybe a jar of jam from the freezer or a bag of chips or a plant cutting - she's just like that ... sweet, unselfish, and giving.
When I started my it Works business she was my first fan I mean sincere fan. She was excited for me. She was my second customer - and has tried my Wraps more than once - we've shared some giggling times. She has stayed with me through everything. She told me as long as I'm in it, she's in it – and that's her way of support and showing her faith in me.
She's not on Facebook, Instagram and doesn't 'do' blogs so she won't even see this but I tell you what, it does a woman's heart good to have a steady friend like that and after I ate her homemade BlackBerry (appropriate autocorrect 😉) jam on toast this morning, well, I was kind of overcome with love for her and just wanted to share this feeling of gratitude.
This joy, these sweet emotions - it's wallowing in abundance of the best kind!! ;)
Last year haul of strawberries!

Climb Till Your Dreams Come True!

Well, here we are in the last week of the month of April. I can't say that I'm exactly thrilled with where I am right now with my business but I can say that I've learned quite a few things this month and that causes me to not feel so bad. Some people call these "aha!" moments.
  • Business wise I've learned that I really need to gather some more eggs into my basket. One of the few folks that I thought was faithful and true ended up not reneging on the company itself, but changing from distributor to customer which changes my game plan for sure. And it changes the game not just for me, but for the people in my upline who were depending on me. I am determined that this will never happen again – I truly truly hate letting people down who were counting on me. And so I've decided to be braver, or more courageous in my approach, in my interactions, and in who I'm reaching out to. Yes, it could be daunting, but instead I will consider it rather exciting!
  • Product wise, I have really learned the value of a few of my products. For example, our Greens! I shared our own 'private' stash with more than one person this month which meant for myself and my husband we ran out! Oh no! Sluggish is the only word I have for how I felt without taking my Greens daily! A big reason I needed the Greens was because we had so much rain, and I think I'm allergic to it! Truly, my emotions go into a downswing if I'm in the middle of persistent dreariness. Maybe that's because my early years were spent in sunny California and Idaho so, from early on, I was nurtured on sunshine. So lesson learned, from now on I buy a large container of Greens and make sure I have enough for my husband plus myself  ...and a friend or two if I need to share.

But, I also learned something else about myself –
  • I have hiked enough trails to realize that no matter how hard it is going up, that the view from the top is generally gorgeous and more than worth the effort. Sometimes the effort of the climb is really hard - that's when you appreciate a word of advice, or even a hand-up over a rough step or two. And there are those moments when all you need is a word of encouragement from someone ahead of you. consistently putting one foot ahead of the other is what keeps you going uphill. Also, having faith in your own stamina and stick-to-it attitude. And so, that's how I'm treating this business and the wonderful thing is, the views along the way are pretty dad-gum glorious!

What is a Pyramid Scheme | Pyramid Scheme Explained

I kind of loved this ... it is interesting, pretty funny, and amazing at the same time.

March Winds and My Mom

March winds and April showers bring forth May flowers.
For whatever reason, this little poem perhaps, I always think of winds in the month of March and also, I refer to it as "my Mom's month". Mom would have been 96 on the 13th of March - it was a week ago today and I decided to live that day to her honor. Just a little deal or pact I made with myself but I truly do think about her so often this month. Two cousins mentioned Mom to me within days of each-other - well, one, shared this picture below with me. Mom, or, Naomi, must've been in her early 20s ... I love her smile and the spirit of fun that shines through. I really wonder how Martha got ahold of this photo! I don't think I'd ever seen it.
The other cousin was asking about a casserole she used to eat at Mom and Dad's house ... Mom was a great cook and some of her happiest moments were spent in the kitchen. She loved having company and her kitchen was filled with cooking and her table with great food, friends and family who partook not just of her yummy dishes but also, a lot of love, conversation and laughter. When you sat at Mom's table it may be an hour or more before you were up. The casserole was one the family nicknamed "Green Rice Casserole" My cousin asked about it one day and then my daughter, not knowing Sissy has asked for it, also wanted to make sure she had the ingredients down for it.
 Green Rice Casserole
stew a chicken (Mom did a whole one, I sometimes just do breast meat)
2 cups uncooked rice (can boil it in the chicken broth)
chop onion (whole if small or 1/2 if large) and
chop 2 stalks celery (or to taste) fry it up until clear
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 jar Cheese Whiz
2 boxes of frozen chopped broccoli - lightly cooked
Combine de-boned chicken and all other ingredients in a large bowl, mix thoroughly and place in a 13/9 casserole dish - top with grated cheese and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until heated through!
